Flight attendants are said to have the longest exposure to passengers. Aside from being exposed to an average of 50 passengers per cabin crew per leg of the flight, they interact closely with these passengers. As such, it is important that flight attendants are protected from any infectious disease like Covid-19 for the safety of the crew and other passengers are well. AirAsia Philippines then took the initiative to quickly administer the vaccine against CoviD-19 to their employees from the flight crew (pilots and cabin crew), ground crew, ramp agents, and back-office employees.
As a result of the efforts, AirAsia Philippines was able to innoculate 98% of their flight attendants, around 213 out of 217. A total of 97.6% of AirAsia Philippines employees have actually been vaccinated against CoviD-19. To see the total numbers, please do read this article.
Passengers do feel safer when they know that they are being served by a vaccinated set of crew. In a recent survey, 91.4% of passengers said they feel safer when they know that the flight crew has been vaccinated.
AirAsia Philippines is eyeing to fly a 100% fully vaccinated flight, where all passengers to the staff and the crew have received their jabs. Of course, flight attendants continue to observe strict safety protocols and continue to remind passengers to follow these.
