Be very vigilant when you see flight attendant job openings

As more airlines globally are on the stage of recovery, more cabin crew aspirants and retrenched cabin crew are now out taking their chance to search for possible flight attendant jobs. However, this has also created a myriad of scammers who are out there to take advantage of this situation. This is why you have to be very vigilant when you see flight attendant job openings. Do not just submit your resume/CV and any other pertinent information without discerning.

These scammers usually guise themselves as “recruitment agencies” or “travel and tours” companies who would post flight attendant jobs without naming a single airline. Now if you fall for this, they will ask for your information which will later on make you believe that all is legit and you will soon have your dream. Then all of a sudden, they will ask for a sum of money as the “last step” to process your papers. Next thing you know, nothings happened. Your money gone!

Legit flight attendant job postings

So how would you know if the posting is legit or not? Well first of all, if the posting is directly from the airline’s official website or directly linked from the airline, then it is most likely legit. That’s the very first thing to look for. If the airline itself announce flight attendant job openings, then obviously it is legit. We still do suggest though that you call or get in touch with the airline first to ask if that particular cabin crew job opening is still ongoing. Sometimes, slots have already been filled up and the airline just fails to update the website on time. Nothing wrong with asking. At least you get to clear everything.

How about recruitment agencies that post flight attendant job openings?

Sometimes, international airlines have authorized manpower agencies in other countries to facilitate in the recruitment of flight attendants. In the case of Qatar Airways and Saudia, it is IPAMS or Industrial Personnel and Management Services, Inc. in the Philippines. Usually, IPAMS would include the name of the airline like Qatar Airways, Saudia, and even Saudi Gulf whenever they would post a cabin crew job opportunity.

What if it is other recruitment agencies posting flight attendant job openings and you are unfamiliar with them? Well, here are steps on how to check their legitimacy.

  1. First thing you check is for which airline. It has to be the name of an actual airline, and not just “a known commercial international airline” or “a VIP airline.” If you don’t see any name, you may call the recruitment agency and ask them for which airline is the cabin crew job opening. Two things, either they will give you a name or not.
  2. If the manpower agency provides a name, we suggest that you send an email or call the airline directly to verify the job opening. They will more often than not, confirm the information you need. If the agency still does not provide any particular name, then stop from there. Don’t submit anything.
  3. However, your curiosity may drive you to send in your resume to that agency even if no particular airline name was provided. Control yourself. Call first the POEA or the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration and ask them about the manpower agency. Please do deal only with POEA accredited agencies.

Just because it is posted on a legit employment website, doesn’t mean its 100% legit too

Sadly, these kind of “questionable” flight attendant job openings may appear on legit employment websites like Jobstreet. However, this does not make the job opening immediately legit. Just lately, we got a report about a travel and tour company recruiting flight attendants. However, this was totally questionable. First and foremost, no particular airline was named. Secondly, the description about the flight attendant job was totally questionable. It said:

Be very vigilant when you see flight attendant job openings

Now, this can be a totally different job nature than that of a legit flight attendant who are trained to ensure safety on board the aircraft and to deal with inflight medical emergencies. They may just be using the title “flight attendant” but not necessarily that of a real flight attendant. Also, the grammar by itself is questionable too. We don’t get what they mean by “attending the brief and act upon it.”

So please be careful okay.
