It is indeed her favorite fruit. Fortunately, she was able to turn her love for avocados into a business which, loved her back later on. Em has been flying for 5 years. She has enjoyed every moment of it, giving her best every time she steps inside an airplane. However, here comes the covid-19 pandemic and things just had to turn the opposite direction. Things were beyond Em’s control but she did not let this stop her. She had to stand up and move on.
Avocado wholesale business was born out of passion
Her business named “Avocado by Em” started out in April 2020 during the lockdown. Flights were restricted. Cabin crew members were forced to go on unpaid leaves. Their income was definitely depleted. At the same time, there really was nothing to do since we all had to stay home. Em had to think of a way to make ends meet. She wanted to be busy with something and of course, earn extra income.
Why not turn a love for something into a business? So this was what Em exactly did, turn her love avocado into an income generating business. All started with simple retail selling after finding suppliers from General Santos City and other parts of Mindanao. Her supply from General Santos City, Davao, and Cagayan De Oro are the best harvest.
For Em, Avocado is a well-known dessert fruit and a 4 to 5 month season fruit. This is what makes people always excited about it.
Em’s avocado business has really grown due to her hard work. Now, she caters to both retailers and wholesalers, selling 2 tons of Avocado every week! During off-season, Em also retails other fruits that are on-season that month like Mangosteen and Dragon Fruit. Well, there is still a supply of Avocado except, price is usually higher.
Em’s avocado business has been helpful to both herself and others. Financially wise, it has augmented the loss in income. It has helped Em move on and to further grow her business. She is also able to help others by providing them opportunities in the avocado business. Em is able to price her products competitively. Quality too is never sacrificed. How being a flight attendant helped Em
Being a cabin crew has its advantages when one become an entrepreneur. For Em, it is learning how to deal with different kinds of customers.
