Blue, Red, Yellow. These are the basic primary colors and with these colors, different shades are formed. Just like these colors our carriers carry these symbols, Philippine Airlines for blue, Cebu Pacific for yellow, and AirAsia for red. We are flight attendants who belong to the sky, and with you, we shall all fly!
These are some of our major national carriers in the Philippines and every airline has its own peculiar greeting to them which makes them unique from the other. We are diverse, yes, a very diverse industry but in these miasmic times, we stand in unity.
We flight attendants are all about safety
Our main point is SAFETY in which the cabin crew is trained for. From initial training to recurrent all the way down to the refreshers and until the end of our career, it has always been and will always be our main priority. The passenger’s and the crew’s safety are always our top priority. We look out for one another in the aircraft, which is one of the reasons why we do brief of over-wing exits, having passenger safety cards in the seat pocket, we direct the exits and demonstrate how to use or operate some of the equipment found inside the aircraft. Yes, the seatbelts, the oxygen masks, and the life vests are some of the safety equipment.
Being a cabin crew is a very very rewarding job. Seeing your passengers walking down the aisle smiling at you (well, not everyone). The reward comes from in and out of the flight. The moment you step inside the aircraft until your last sector and till you go home and knowing that you made it through the day with everyone safe, happy, and satisfied, that’s what it really is about.
Don’t give up on your cabin crew dreams
Through these dark times, every company is finding its own ways to battle this unforeseen, unfortunate circumstance in every way possible to just keep the company going. It’s tough, but I believe that we will all gracefully pass this tough stage in our lives and that we just have to keep moving forward. Don’t give up on your dreams because that’s the beginning of success. “Dreaming to become reality” is the most “Gold-medal winning award” feeling you will ever get. Life is a series of roller coaster rides but through time, you might never know, and just about that moment you take a huge step out of your comfort zone, AH! The sweet taste of success is serendipity.
I miss flying, we all do. This isn’t going to last forever and for sure in darkness, there will always be that small ray of light called hope. A yin-yang will never be a yin-yang without a little darkness and a little light It’s just a phase, it will soon pass and we will someday go back to normal.
