Your journey to become a flight attendant starts now, not later

Are you the type of person who says, “I will do it now” but decided to do it later? If you are, then maybe today is the right time to change it! Continue reading this section if you want to discover the importance of “doing it now” compared to saying “later” to make your flight attendant dreams come true.

One of the toxic attitudes that a person can have is the “Mañana Habit” or when we say in Filipino “Mamaya na”. It is an act of doing it ‘later’ or ‘tomorrow’ also described as procrastination and laziness. This character is not best to practice mostly if you are an aspiring flight attendant because that job requires promptness and quick action in every area. As early as now, having an attitude of being punctual and keen into action is the best kind of deal that airlines need the most.

Since the airline or aviation industry is still recovering today, only a few companies are hiring new flight attendants. And mostly, the airlines who are accepting application in other country requires applicants who are residents or willing to stay in their country.

But don’t lose hope! Flight Attendant opportunities may be scarce now in the Philippines; yet, we can look forward that one day it will open its doors again for us. While waiting for that day to come, we encourage you to grab the job opportunities in the Middle East, Europe, and America to become one of their Cabin Crews. Yes, we know what’s on your mind right now, “It’s too far from the Philippines.” But take note of this, distance should not be a hindrance in achieving your amazing dream to gain your WINGS! This reminds us of T.S. Elliot’s famous line “Only those who risk going too far can find out how far they can go.”

While we are all in the process of “preparation” in achieving our dreams of becoming a Flight Attendant, acting NOW instead of doing it LATER is a must-have character of a Cabin Crew. Today, fasten your seat belt as we dive in to learn the important things in preparing yourself in becoming a Cabin Crew one day.

Your journey to become a flight attendant starts now, not later

Here are the necessary skills that a Flight Attendant must have:

Effective Time-Management

Having the character of punctuality is essential as a cabin crew. The schedules of a flight attendant are oftentimes demanding, so the body clock is changing every day. On an everyday flight, you will have a plane to catch and be early before the boarding of passengers. So as early as NOW, it is vital to practice being early in your class, in your current workplace, or even in family or church gatherings. In that way, you can train your body to be punctual as always and eventually will transform it into an effective habit.

Good Customer Service

A flight attendant has to provide a good and hospitable service to their passengers. It is important to practice serving people with genuine care to offer a comfortable and safe flight to its passengers. While you’re preparing today, it is essential to practice serving your loved ones or gain experience in the BPO industry. Take note that a character of ‘giving’ and ‘serving’ without expecting in return is one of the best assets that you can have as a Cabin Crew.

Enhance Communication Skills

Chances of meeting different nationalities are possible in everyday flight. So, it is best to practice having the confidence in speaking clearly with a lot of people, to your passengers and crew. A Flight Attendant must also learn to be courteous and good at listening to its customers. Today, in your preparation journey, practice your pronunciation and grammar by reading books or articles every day.

Build a Good Stamina

A Cabin Crew often works long hours in flight; responding to a challenging situation dealing with passengers and assisting heavy baggage. Building good stamina today plays an important role in your future duties. Daily exercise is the key! You must maintain good improvements on your physique to look presentable and strong when you’re on board.

Be a Leader and a Follower

In an emergency, Flight Attendants are responsible for leading their passengers to safety. So it is best to learn how to lead different people calmly and rationally.  As a leader, a Flight Attendant must have a Follower type of character that will take criticisms and corrections from the higher-ups constructively. Invest in building a good character as you journey in your preparatory season of becoming a Cabin Crew.

Be Yourself

Cliché as it may sound, but this is the last tip of advice that we should keep in mind. We are well aware that becoming a Flight Attendant has high competition; well, it is. So oftentimes, some of the applicants are transforming themselves into something that they are not. To you, as an aspiring Flight Attendant, you can improve your character, but never forget to be yourself at all times. Airline companies not just want a presentable, well-mannered type of Cabin Crew, but they also need someone who’s genuinely true – the way you speak, present yourself and care for other people.

We are hoping and praying that these practical guides can somehow help you in preparing for your Flight Attendant journey. So, what are you waiting for? Start preparing. Not later, but rather TODAY. See you onboard!
